Mary Evelyn grew up in Shreveport, Louisiana. She attended Louisiana State University, then transferred to Furman University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1982. After moving to Dallas, Texas, in 1992, she worked in the medical sales industry before pursuing her years-long dream of becoming an attorney. She earned her Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law (formerly known as Texas Wesleyan School of Law) in 2006. Mary Evelyn became Board Certified in Personal Injury Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 2017. She is a member of the Texas State Bar and the Dallas Bar Association, and a former member of the Florida State Bar.

During and after law school, Mary Evelyn clerked and practiced at the law firm of Cooper & Scully, P.C. in Dallas, Texas. She practiced in the areas of insurance defense, medical malpractice, health law, managed health care, and insurance bad faith litigation. Her clients included local and national hospital corporations and managed health care corporations, as well as local physicians, and non-profit companies. In addition to her local litigation practice, Mary Evelyn participated in multiple medical malpractice cases which were litigated in Florida and Arizona. After transferring to a major insurance carrier, Mary Evelyn defended individual and corporate clients in all matters of personal injury claims, worker’s compensation claims, and defended the carrier in many first-party cases. Mary Evelyn has tried approximately 50 cases to verdict.

Mary Evelyn is the proud mother of two children and two grandchildren, and is a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Community.
